Madison Square Garden

I am excited to say that I have seen a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, a quintisential experience for hoops fans!

I wasn’t quite sure it was going to happen. I had a business trip planned to NYC, but my schedule was a bit influx. So, I decided to wait until the last minute and see if anything reasonable was available. It was kind of cool to watch play out. I checked prices in the morning, but started seriously looking at 17:30 for a 19:30 tip off. Prices dropped a little. Seat Geek actually as pretty good a ranking the ‘deal’ of a ticket, essentially letting you know which were the best value compared to its face value. And, I think I timed it perfectly. I got the ticket I wanted just as the ones in my section of choice were beginning to sell out.

What was also surprising was how much I enjoyed the game. The arena is beautiful. You really feel like you are in the heart of New York. Opposing sides are adorned with the numerous banners of the Knicks and Rangers. The playlist was excellent. A lot of 90’s hip hop beats, some classic NY Reggaeton, and some more contemporary stuff. The stars were out. Ben Stiller, Stephon Marbury, Doc Gooden, Jon Stark , and Adam Scott were in the building. And, of course, Spike Lee was front and center, working the refs.

The basketball highlight of the evening may have came from a fan. Someone actually hit a halfcourt shot to win a Kia Telluride. But, it was a good match up between the pros as well. Jalen Brunson led the hometown, playoff contending team. But Anthony Edwards led his Minnesota Timberwolves (also a playoff contending team) to victory. Good show!
